Acupuncture

Our bodies are in a state of constant change. They shift in response to the seasons, the balance of night and day, the food we eat, and countless other factors. Health is a state of dynamic balance. Acupuncture is one tool I use to help patients address the root causes of imbalance, and experience greater health.

What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is a treatment developed in China that uses thin, sterile needles to move qi and blood in the body. It’s known for its remarkable ability to treat pain. It can also be profoundly helpful in the treatment of digestive, allergic, auto-immune, mental-emotional, and sleep disharmonies.

How can one technique help with so many kinds of problems? Because it treats the whole person, not just the disease state. It supports the body’s natural healing processes, and helps the body to shift from patterns of injury or stagnation to patterns of ease and wellbeing.

Do the needles hurt? Acupuncture needles are extremely thin, so usually they do not hurt. Most patients find acupuncture soothing and pleasant. I have done many treatments on patients who have never had acupuncture, or who are afraid of needles, and had good results. But if acupuncture is not right for you, there may still be other ways I can help, like with herbs.

Treatments may also include other supportive techniques from Traditional Chinese Medicine, like cupping, moxibustion, gua sha or Tui Na, as needed. If an herbal formula is indicated, I will recommend one.

My current availability is limited to home visits in the NYC area and on Long Island, or Telehealth consults.

Note: One feature of my practice that is a rare offering is that I work with a practitioner of Chinese BaZi astrology to understand each patient’s unique constitution and create treatment plans that move with the seasons. This information adds a layer of depth that is so vital that I urge patients, especially those who are seeking help with a chronic condition, to opt for adding the cost of generating a chart to their Initial Intake [a one-time $75 fee]. For some patients, this is more essential than for others. If you have questions about whether or not this may be helpful for you, please inquire.
